Glad you hade a great weekend. SO what's the story with the swards and the bottled water?

The story is, that we were saying something about Satan, and then we were cutting up the bottles as to do battle. I said, "liar".

I'll see if I can get Ryan to comment, it is his sword, and he could tell you a bit more of why he bought one and how he came to own the one that he did.

I wanted to share the story with you all about how I came to own a sword. I had been to several retreats and various swords always seemed to be there and I actually thought it was kind of weird or really that it just wasn't for me. Around November Pastor Mike preached on spiritual warfare and video was shown in church with these ordinary people, all in individual shots kind of out in this field, each of them with a sword and strongly procaiming various statements like "I will stand firm", etc. While watching that, I felt like God was telling me I was supposed to get a sword, again still pretty weird to me.

The next day I happened to be flipping through the channels on TV and came across the movie Gladiator on TNT, and you know how they play those things all week long. I watched a lot of it several times that week and really started to get drawn back into the larger story and again getting this strong sense I am supposed to get a sword. That weekend, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was on and I had never seen it! I have always been more into sports than the whole fantasy thing, so I had just never watched it. I watched the first one and recorded the others. Man, the whole story just hooked me and now I own the trilogy and it is my favorite movie.

I began telling people I was going to get a sword and the response every time was "What for?" and I'd say "God told me to." I wanted to get the William Wallace sword from Braveheart as that has been one of my favorite movies and I had decided upon that for quite some time, doing a lot of research and then I ran across a sword on a website that I had seen a couple of times and this particular website called it a "Christian Warrior Sword" and I knew that it was the one. It was God's way of calling me out to be a warrior, to fight the battle and even though I'll pull it out every now and then and slice through some water bottles, it is a visual reminder to me to stay in the larger story, that I have an enemy who wants to steal, kill, and destroy, and that I have a significant role to play.

In the battle,

Ryan
